Los Angeles Speech Therapy

The point of this article is to explain to people how to control their voice.

Voice Therapy Los Angeles hope to help teach people how to produce maximum levels of voice output with minimal voice effort. An ideal voice is one that is versatile, smooth, and produced with minimal effort.

Keeping a relaxed voice is necessary when doing vocal exercises and translates into a pleasant speaking voice. Many people speak from their throat which is an indication of voice suppression and perhaps nervousness. This is typically associated with tense jaw and throat muscles, which results in a voice tone that sounds nervous and harsh. It is difficult to produce a mellifluous tone when one is stressed or anxious. These types of voice patterns reveal volumes about a person’s personality and their inner thoughts.

We have designed a four point outline for properly using your voice to express your true self. By following these simple prescriptions, people can control their voices to sound more relaxed, confident and calm. la speech2

1. While positioned in a comfortable stance, either sitting or standing, put your palms gently on your throat and talk in a normal voice. Pay close attention to your throat muscles and the amount of jaw tension.

2. Try yawning. Extend your mouth into an open position. Complete the yawn with a sound that resembles a ‘ho-hum’, extending the hum for a several second interval. Release your jaw and let it fall as far as it naturally will without causing pain. Move your jaw from side to side and proceed to hum with your lips kept closed and your jaw kept loose.

3. Continue with the yawn and hum exercise. At this point, one can see how relaxed the throat feels when the voice strain in taken away. Do you notice how your voice muscles have become loose and relaxed?

4. Massage your throat muscles and try to remove the tightness.
